A: I'd love to, but I don't work for free! Music takes up a lot of my time, especially when I have to make a cover or something by ear. As a result, I do not take commissions for covers, but I will do an original song or music for your game!
If you want to "talk shop" about a soundtrack or song commission, please reach out on Discord, Bluesky, or email. Depending on how busy I am, I may not be able to help you out.
Q: Can I use a song you've made in my [insert thing]?
A: It depends on the situation. I typically share download links to the module or audio files of a song if I want anyone to use them. In that case, you are free to use it without my permission, as long as you give proper credit!
If the song is from a Bandcamp release of mine, I’ve uploaded it somewhere but haven’t shared the source files, or if you intend to use it for commercial purposes, please reach out and contact me for permission before using it.
Of course, it goes without saying that you shouldn't use my music if it was created for a specific game! At that point, it's up to the game's publisher and/or developer.
Also, in some cases, there may be additional licensing details that need to be worked out - again, just shoot me a DM or email if you need any help.
Q: Can I talk to you about music or ask for tips?
A: First of all, I'm flattered! Second, I'd love to chat about composing chiptunes or anything, really. A good place to do so is in my Discord server, so other people can chime in, and you can share your creations for me and others to give feedback on. You're welcome to DM as well if you feel less comfortable. I'm also hanging around in plenty of other spaces, so give me a ping if you spot me and wanna talk.
Q: Are you the guy from [insert place here]?
A: Chances are, yes. I'm found in a lot more places than the sites I have listed on my socials. I also don't know of many other Retrokids out there that make chiptune, so chances are it's probably me. Also, if you found this site in my bio on that platform, then yes, that is definitely me.
Q: Will you collab with me on a song?
A: That depends. Have we met? Have I checked out some of your songs? Do we use some of the same programs? If you tick all the boxes, probably! In any case, I do like working alongside other artists and getting to build off each other's ideas, and have collaborated with several folks.
Q: When is Retromix coming out?
A: Yes.
I will probably add more sections to this later. In any case, thanks for reading! Enjoy your time here :)
